Single event processes are out specialty! We record with a data based transient recorder. Deep memory ensures that the collated data entails the desired section of a firing or detonic process. Gone is the time when a faulty trigger means data loss! We have sensors and technology to cover most everything. Recording mechanical magnitudes is the most common; e.g., force, pressure, elongation and acceleration but we can also record temperature, sound and light and other forms of electromagnetic radiation.
We have the expertise and a wealth of applications in the field of radar. Our photography, filming and video techniques are in high demand. We select from among a number of different standard format and high speed cameras for adaptation to the given time axis of a process and the resolution requirements. We use X-ray imagery where a process is obscured by smoke. Even the fastest detonic process is captured at an exposure time of fifty nanoseconds. We use material X-rays to look into a test item after environmental endurance testing to see if something has been shaken apart.
The streamlining laboratory’s wind tunnel facility offers the opportunity to study aerodynamics at speeds from a few metres per second up to Mach 3.6. Force scales measure torque and air resistance. High velocities cause increases in aerodynamic warming that we measure with infrared cameras.
The technological areas we have at our disposal are also applied for the civilian customers, and we have a number of examples of this.
