JOB SUMMARY – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

Measurements technician, working under general technical guidance, who specializes in ground-based radar system test and evaluation. 1. Operates and maintains a semi-automated Radar measurements test capability consisting of Test Measurement and Diagnostics Equipment (TMDE) and associated devices including transmitting and receiving equipment, digital computers, measuring and controlling equipment, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines. 2. Applies technical knowledge of electronic and radar principles to solve basic problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment. 3. Analyzes measurement data, identifies system performance degradations and recommends repair actions. 4. Manipulates computer keyboards and views and interprets computer displays. 5. Assists and/or provides occasional work direction to lower-level technicians. 6. Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested. WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Outdoor duties may require climbing stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds. Government vehicle is used on an as-needed basis. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, at remote locations with occasional overnight assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Travel to remote working locations may be required. REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE: Prefer a technician with an Associate’s degree from an accredited two-year technical school with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory or a military equivalent. ISCET certification may be required. Comprehensive knowledge in general electronics and demonstrated expertise in radar and computer systems along with test equipment used to test equipment parameters and diagnose malfunctions is necessary. Experience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devices may be required. At least 3 years of hands-on experience is required. Successful candidates will have journeyman-level troubleshooting capabilities. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a background in radar evaluation and measurements in a lab testing environment. Have current valid driver’s license. Able to qualify for and maintain a TS/SSBI security clearance.
